Cotton Club Poreč: truffle pljukanci, stone-oven pizza and dry-aged steaks on Trg slobode
Cotton Club has worked at Trg slobode 6 in Poreč for more than thirty years, from 10 a.m. to midnight: hand-made truffle pljukanci, stone-oven pizza, steaks from its own ageing cabinet and a separate gluten-free menu.
Cotton Club stands at Trg slobode 6, at the entrance to Poreč's old town and a few steps from the Euphrasian Basilica, and has worked at that address for more than thirty years. It holds first place in our guide to restaurants in Poreč and a 4.6 rating on Google with more than three thousand reviews. This text explains what is eaten on that square, what it costs and when, in September 2026, it makes sense to book.
Where it is and how it works
Trg slobode is where the newer part of Poreč meets the old town, so Cotton Club catches both those heading towards the Decumanus and those returning from the waterfront. The restaurant opens from 10 a.m. until midnight without a break, which in practice makes it an address for breakfast, a late lunch after the beach, dinner and a cocktail afterwards. The covered terrace faces the square and there is a classic dining room inside. A caffe bar works alongside the restaurant, so a terrace table is also taken for coffee alone.

What is on the menu
The menu blends Istrian and Mediterranean cooking, and three groups of dishes carry the house.
- Pasta and risotto: hand-made pljukanci with truffles and truffle risotto. These are the dishes guests mention most often in reviews, alongside the pizza.
- Pizza: thin crust baked in a stone oven.
- Steaks: dry-aged beef from the restaurant's own ageing cabinet. The tomahawk and the Tuscan tagliata arrive whole and are carved in front of the guest.
Seafood platters are also on the menu, so a group that cannot decide between sea, pasta and meat does not have to settle on one kitchen. There is a children's menu, and the restaurant offers delivery and takeaway.
Gluten-free and vegetarian menus
Cotton Club is one of two restaurants in the Poreč guide with a separate gluten-free menu, and one that includes pizza and pasta rather than only grilled fish. There is a separate vegetarian menu as well. Anyone in the party with a gluten intolerance does not need to explain anything to the waiter; they simply ask for the other menu.
Prices and booking
Expect 20 to 45 euros per person, depending on whether the evening ends with pizza or steak. That is above the Poreč average for pasta and pizza, which reviews do mention, but within what is paid on the main square. Booking is possible through the restaurant's website or by phone on +385 99 166 8996. Opening hours, contact details and menu photos are on the Cotton Club profile on Jelo.hr. For a larger party or a terrace table on a Saturday evening, call a day ahead; for a weekday lunch in September no notice is usually needed.
What guests praise
Guests in reviews praise the friendly, quick service, the pasta and pizza and the gluten-free options. Complaints mostly concern prices above the Poreč average and occasional waiting for a table in season. The restaurant is marked as pet-friendly.
If you are choosing one dish, the reviews give a clear order: truffle pljukanci for a first visit, pizza when coming with children, and the steak carved at the table when dinner is the occasion. The seafood platter makes sense for two or three, because it is shared.
When to come in September 2026
In July and August the terraces in the centre of Poreč are full from 7 p.m. In September a table on Trg slobode is easier to find, but for Friday and Saturday evenings a reservation is still worth making, especially if you want the terrace. Those arriving without a booking do better before 7 or after 9 p.m. The long opening hours have one more advantage: a late lunch at 4 p.m., when most kitchens in town are closed, is routine here.
The other Poreč addresses Cotton Club is compared with, from Sveti Nikola on the waterfront to Monte Rosso on the hill, are in the guide to restaurants in Poreč, and the full list of restaurants in town is in the Poreč directory.
