Taj Mahal Old Town
Taj Mahal Old Town is in Ulica Nikole Gučetića, a narrow street just off Stradun in the old town. Despite the name, the cuisine is Bosnian: traditional dishes made to family recipes, grilled meat from the restaurant's own butcher shop and homemade baklava with plums made by the owner's mother. The restaurant is run by Edin and Edina, and it holds a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Michelin Guide.
The menu is long. Ćevapi (grilled minced-meat rolls) in somun (flatbread) with kajmak (clotted cream) cost 21–26 €, burek (filo pastry pie) 16 €, slow-cooked dishes such as hadžijski ćevap (a slow-cooked meat stew) or bosanski lonac (Bosnian meat and vegetable pot) 26–29 €, and steaks 38–42 €. Baklava and tufahije (poached apples stuffed with walnuts) are 10–12 €. There are more vegetarian dishes than is usual for a Bosnian grill.
In summer the restaurant is full, so reservations are recommended on 020 323 221. The same house also has a more spacious version in the Hotel Lero in Lapad. Guests most often praise in reviews the warm staff who help with the menu, the grilled meat and the baklava.
