Restoran Crna svinja

Restoran Crna svinja is on the Terra Negra estate in Čepin, about ten minutes' drive south of the centre of Osijek, surrounded by meadows and forest. It is named after the black Slavonian pig, an indigenous breed that is also the foundation of the menu.

The kitchen is led by chef Marinko Rotim. Dishes include black pig tenderloin roasted in caul fat with purée, bacon and hazelnuts, confit pork cheeks, charcoal-grilled steaks and guinea fowl soup with semolina dumplings. The menu changes with the seasons. Gault&Millau gives the restaurant 15.5 out of 20 points, and it has been included six times among the 100 best restaurants in Croatia.

The dining room seats around a hundred guests, with a wine cellar with a chef's table and a terrace for eighty people. Open for both lunch and dinner, with shorter hours on Sundays. Reservations are advisable at weekends, and the easiest way to reach the estate is with satnav. Guests most often mention in reviews the roast meat and the setting.
