Konoba Fiume

Konoba Fiume operates on the narrow Ulica Vatroslava Lisinskog by the market, opposite the fish market. The Valenčić family has run it since 2003, and son Zoran buys fish every morning about ten metres from the kitchen. Ninety percent of what is on offer comes from the fish market.

On the table come fried sardines and anchovies with Swiss chard, octopus, grilled sea bream or turbot, and Kvarner scampi when available. Main courses mostly cost 6 to 25 €, pasta and risottos 10 to 19 €. Kult plave kamenice and the Gault&Millau guide highlight the ratio of price to freshness.
