The Botanist

The Botanist is the first plant-based restaurant in Zadar; it was opened by four brothers from Petrčane. The menu is entirely vegan, but written so that guests who otherwise eat meat order from it just as readily.

The dishes carry animal names: Dik-Dik is a plant-based version of filet mignon with potatoes (27.40 €), Common Cockchafer a chickpea stew with kale crisps (18.60 €), and Spiny Lumpsucker a Wellington in puff pastry (42.50 €). Gault&Millau, for 2026, describes it as a restaurant that raises plant-based cooking to a gastronomic level. A full dinner costs 45 to 50 euros per person.

The terrace looks out over the sea on the Poluotok waterfront. The kitchen is open until 9 pm, the restaurant until midnight, and reservations are taken by e-mail and telephone. Guests most often mention in reviews the flavours that surprise even meat-eaters, the service and the view.
