Gostionica Ficlek

Gostionica Ficlek opened on 2 March 2020 on Pod zidom street, a few steps from Dolac market and the cathedral, under the same owner as the neighbouring Pod Zidom Bistro. The idea is to eat as you would at grandmother's: ajngemahtec (Zagreb-style chicken and vegetable soup), baked štrukli (cheese-filled pastry), purica s mlincima (roast turkey with mlinci flatbread), pohani picek (breaded fried chicken), faširanci (meat patties), krpice sa zeljem (pasta squares with cabbage) and tafelšpic (boiled beef, Tafelspitz), and in winter sarma (stuffed cabbage rolls) and stuffed peppers.

Alongside these come ficleki, small bites on wooden boards ordered with a gemišt (white wine with sparkling water) or škropec (white wine with still water). Journal named the eatery its gastro pick of the month in February 2025, and on TripAdvisor it carries the Travelers' Choice label for 2025 and belongs to the lowest price category.

The space has around thirty seats, so reservations are recommended at weekends. It is open every day from 11 am to 11 pm. Guests most often mention in reviews the large portions, the home-cooked flavour and the value for the portion size.
