Pod Zidom Bistro
Pod Zidom Bistro was opened in 2014 by Borna Janeš as a wine bar and over the years he turned it into a gastronomic bistro. It is on Pod zidom street in the centre of Zagreb, the terrace faces the cathedral, and the Michelin Guide has recommended it continuously since 2019.
The menu is bistronomy-style: beef tartare, tuna tartare, vitello tonnato, risotto with beef fillet and open lasagne with duck ragù, plus a seasonal addition that changes every few months. Ingredients come from the Dolac market on the same street, and almost the entire wine list of around a hundred labels is served by the glass, including wines under the bistro's own label.
Starters cost 20–22 €, main courses 24–33 €, beef fillet 44 €, with a cover charge of 3.90 €. On weekdays a three-course lunch is offered for 40 €. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12 to 23, closed on Mondays, and reservations are recommended at weekends. Guests most often mention in reviews the beef cheeks, the duck lasagne and the selection of Croatian wines by the glass.
